A Greener Future for Almaty
Protecting our natural environment is one of Rotary International's newest and most urgent areas of focus. In Almaty, a city with stunning natural surroundings but growing environmental pressures, our club is committed to being a force for sustainability.
Our "Green Almaty" initiative has planted 5,000 trees over two years. Our river clean-ups, solar energy projects, and eco-education programmes are building a culture of environmental stewardship across the city.
We collaborate with Almaty Akimat, local environmental NGOs, and corporate partners to scale our impact and drive systemic change.

Our Environment Projects
Green Almaty: 5,000 Trees
Completed phase two of our tree-planting initiative, bringing our total to 5,000 trees planted across Almaty parks and green spaces.
Ile River Clean-Up
Organized a 200-volunteer clean-up of the Ile River banks, removing 4 tonnes of waste and raising awareness about river pollution.
Solar Panel Pilot for Schools
Funded solar panel installation on two rural schools, reducing their energy costs by 60% and cutting carbon emissions.
Eco-Education Programme
Delivered environmental education workshops in 15 schools, teaching 3,000 students about recycling, conservation, and climate change.
Urban Garden Initiative
Established 5 community urban gardens in dense apartment districts, providing green space and fresh produce to 300 families.
