The primary beneficiaries of this project were children from low-income or single-parent families living in poor housing conditions in the Auyezov District of Almaty. Their rights to education — such as attending kindergartens, schools, sports sections and supplementary classes — were being significantly undermined by economic hardship.
Recognising that the responsible authorities were unable to consistently guarantee proper education for these social groups, Rotary Club of Almaty made it the core objective of this project to provide access for these children to schools, kindergartens, sports clubs, and hobby sections.
The project also provided professional training and skills development opportunities for mothers, enabling them to secure a stable income and proper care for their children.
The project was structured around several key stages: developing individual family plans addressing each child's personal educational needs; organising concrete educational steps based on those plans; providing school-age children with books, stationery, supplementary tuition, sports and hobby club fees, school meals, transport tickets and school clothing; covering kindergarten and nursery fees for pre-school children; running group training sessions for mothers and children on self-esteem, socialisation and communication; providing individual educational consultants for mothers on their social rights; and offering professional educational support for mothers.
In 2009, Rotary Club of Almaty allocated 1,351,855 tenge to this project. Assistance was provided to 114 families in the Auyezov District of Almaty, in which 147 children are being raised.
