On 2 September 2020, Rotary Club of Almaty officially donated a new ambulance to the residents of Talgat District, Almaty Oblast. The joint social project — involving Rotarians from Almaty, six Rotary Clubs of South Korea (District 3662), and the Rotary Foundation — began in 2019 when a shared decision was made to support Talgat Central District Hospital, which had an acute shortage of emergency vehicles and operated only six ambulances.
The new seventh vehicle is equipped not only with the standard medical kit but also with advanced resuscitation equipment: an electrocardiograph, a defibrillator-monitor, a "Super Eco" inhaler, frameless "Cloak" stretchers and much more.
The project goes beyond the vehicle donation. Under the "While the Ambulance Is on Its Way" programme, residents of the district are trained in first aid before the medical team arrives. For this purpose, Rotarians procured a special T2 "Maxim III" simulator. The programme is run by the Healthy Lifestyle Department of Talgat Hospital and aims to equip people with life-saving skills.
The handover ceremony was attended by doctors and medical staff of Talgat Central Hospital, led by Director Nurlan Kulseitov, Deputy Akim of Talgat District Akhmet Ashimakhun, media representatives, and members of Rotary Club of Almaty.
This project marked the 25th anniversary of Rotary Club of Almaty. We thank all participants and our Korean partner clubs: Rotary Clubs of Cheju Nahheng, Cheju Chunan, Cheju Yendon, Cheju Iodo, Cheju Ynhasu, Cheju Dasom and Cheju Hswamok; Rotary District 3662; and the Rotary Foundation.
