In 2006, Rotary Club of Almaty hosted an international summer exchange camp for young participants aged roughly 16 to 19 from countries including France, Turkey, Taiwan, Germany, Switzerland and Italy.
The programme combined sports and team-building activities — hiking, climbing, swimming and bowling — with city tours, a two-day lake trip, visits to local attractions and meetings with Rotarians.
A key part of the exchange was home hosting: participants lived with Rotary families, which deepened cultural understanding and gave students direct experience of local traditions and everyday life in Kazakhstan.
