The goal of this project was to equip two Almaty hospitals with previously used specialist hospital beds with manual adjustments, along with medical equipment sourced from Canada.
Through the project, the National Centre of Urology named after Academician Dzharbusinov and the Republican Children's Clinical Hospital "Aksai" both received the hospital beds. In addition, the Children's Rehabilitation Centre received bed linen, blankets, pillows and related supplies.
Project partners of Rotary Club of Almaty were: TradeAid Canada Corporation, Rotary Club of Spruce Grove Alberta, Canada (District 5370), World Emergency Relief/UK, Universal Aid Society, and Rotary International.
Rotary Club of Almaty was responsible for local customs costs, the cost of returning the container, distribution of all materials, media engagement, overall project management, and finding both local and international partners.
The total project budget was $12,080 — a modest investment that brought meaningful improvement to the quality of care for patients in both institutions.
